Organize your Dock
Remove programs you never use from the Dock to make it easier to find than you do. And if you regularly find yourself with a new piece of software, add to the Dock. (An easy way to do this is to Control-click the icon in the Dock when running the software and select Keep in Dock.)
Getting a handle on spam
Spam is a big waste of time. To reduce the amount of spam you receive, only give out your email address to people you know and trust. If you need to register for something on a website and you do not trust their privacy policy, create an additional "disposable" email address and use that. Then you can drop that email address if you begin to have a lot of spam. Finally, take advantage of online services to spam filtering, and excellent built-in Apple Mail spam filter. Thus, even if you get spam, most of the time you never have to deal with it.
